Watch: Rickey Smiley Opens Up About The Probable Cause Of His Son’s Death

During the Today Show, Rickey Smiley made an appearance. He explained what happened before his son Brandon’s passing.

He described the phone call that no parent wants to receive. Brandon had overdosed, his son’s fiancée had told him over the phone.

He said that while he was getting ready to leave the city and return to Alabama, his daughter called to inform him that Brandon had passed away.

Rickey responded truthfully when the presenter asked Smiley whether there had been any prior history.

Rickey went on to say that neither he nor Brandon’s mother were drug users, and they had no idea where Brandon had acquired the habit. 

He also said how they had attempted to help him but that, as an adult, he had turned them down.
Given that Brandon had just been baptized a month earlier, he believed he was improving.

This is the problem that many parents share. It’s the battle of trying to get your loved one the help they need when they are a consenting adult.

He shared fond memories of his son. Rickey shared that he has peace that surpasses his understanding and is trying to keep going as best he can.
