Almost six months have passed since Shanquella Robinson passed away while on vacation in Mexico, but her family is still looking for justice and an explanation.
At Shanquella Robinson’s burial site in Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens on Monday, her father, Bernard Robinson, gave an update on the inquiry into her death.
The father voiced his anger at himself for not doing more research on the group Shanqeulla flew to Mexico with as well as the individuals who were responsible for her death and the autopsy results. Bernard may be frustrated, but he has faith that those guilty will be held accountable.
It was clear that there is tension and dissatisfaction, and for good reason. He made it clear that he only hears about his daughter via the news and texts, implying that her mother does not inform him of everything.
He referenced the lawyer who is frequently seen with Shanquella’s mother and said, “They kicked me out of it.”
“Justice will be served,” Bernard Robinson said. “They brutally beat her. She didn’t agree to fight whatsoever.”
“Their life is still moving along, you know, walking around here like they enjoy life,” said Bernard Robinson. “But this father right here is struggling each and every day.”
Mexican officials have labeled Shanquella Robinson’s death a femicide but the United States Department of Justice has chosen not to seek federal prosecution against the people involved in her death.
