
The lady suspected of murdering three of her children and injuring two more, according to the pastor of the children’s great-grandmother in Ellis County, is undoubtedly mentally ill.
Shamaiya Hall remains in jail on capital murder charges.
The preacher is associated with the grandmother of Hall, where the kids had been residing.
To say that the great-grandmother of these children, whose house they were murdered, was devastated would be an understatement.
Pastor Preston Dixon of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Ellis County is the great-grandmother’s pastor. “I’m committed to this family,” he said. “And I’m concerned about this family.”
On Friday, Hall was accused of stabbing her five kids to death, murdering a 6-year-old and two 5-year-olds. Three counts of capital murder were brought against her.
“This is something that’s unbelievable and unexplainable,” Dixon said.
Which it happened at Shamaiya Hall’s grandmother’s house, who is also the great-grandmother of the kids. According to Dixon, the kids were living with their great-grandma.
The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office says a Child Protective Services investigator made the decision to remove the children from the home minutes before the stabbings.
“And this is the end result of a mental instability that’s gone awry,” the pastor said.
Dixon believes the CPS visit was unannounced. He says Hall’s family thought the 25-year-old was soon going to regain custody.
“We thought the situation would bring about full custody in the next month,” he said.
The grandmother on the side of one of the fathers of the murdered children: 6-year-old Legend Chapelle. She showed paperwork from July highlighting her family’s attempts to gain custody of legend, but it never happened.
