
On Tuesday, February 28, the online dictionary updated, adding new entries and changing more than a thousand definitions of terms already in use.
Among whole categories covering “identity” and “sex, gender and relationships” were the terms, abrosexual (indicating sexual fluidity), multisexual, and folx (a variant of “folks”).
The 2023 dictionary follows the introduction of aromantic and demisexual in 2022. Aromantic which can be pronounced: A-Romantic means: experiencing little or no romantic attraction to anyone; not having romantic feelings.
A demisexual person: a person who experiences sexual feelings and attraction only after developing a close emotional relationship and not on the basis of first impressions, physical characteristics, etc.
Abrosexual means: Some people experience a fluid sexual orientation. Their sexual orientation may be fluid, for example, between bisexuality and homosexuality. Or, for another instance, their sexuality may fluctuate between being pansexual, asexual, and demisexual.
Multisexual: having multiple sexes
WOC: woman of color: a woman of color; a nonwhite woman.
anti-fat: Also fat·pho·bic [fat–foh-bik] . opposed, hostile, or averse to fatness and fat people.
Pinkwashing: an instance or practice of acknowledging and promoting the civil liberties of the LGBTQ+ community, but superficially, as a ploy to divert attention from allegiances and activities that are in fact hostile to such liberties.
Queerbaiting: a marketing technique involving intentional homoeroticism or suggestions of LGBTQ+ themes intended to draw in an LGBTQ+ audience, without explicit inclusion of openly LGBTQ+ relationships, characters, or people.
Deadass: Slang. genuinely, sincerely, or truly; in fact.
Trauma Dumping: unsolicited, one-sided sharing of traumatic or intensely negative experiences or emotions in an inappropriate setting or with people who are unprepared for the interaction.
