During Super Bowl LVII, “Creed” fans got one final look at Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut.
Jordan will make a comeback on March 3 as Adonis “Donnie” Creed in “Creed III,” the ninth entry in the “Rocky” series.
Rocky Balboa, played by Sylvester Stallone, is no longer by the side of Michael B. Jordan’s Creed. Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad will reprise their roles as Creed’s girlfriend Bianca and stepmother Mary Anne, respectively, amid Stallone’s absence owing to creative disagreements. Creed’s new foe Anderson “Damian” Dame has joined the cast as Jonathan Majors.
The clip previews how Adonis has come to terms with carrying on his late father Apollo Creed’s heritage. But while he embraces his independent profession as Adonis, Anderson (Majors) makes his return from an 18-year jail sentence, bringing his past back to haunt him once again.
Adonis and Anderson were stopped by police one night when they were young, and Anderson was later imprisoned for over two decades. Anderson, a former boxer, makes a comeback to get revenge for the life he feels was stolen from him, even if it means competing against Adonis in a huge fight at Dodger Stadium. A short glance at the Super Bowl commercial reveals that the stadium is jam-packed with spectators cheering on this important matchup; Anderson obviously finds a sizable group of cheerleaders.
Creed III is the third installment in the successful franchise and is Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut.
