
According to his coworkers, a defense lawyer in the Young Slime Life gang case was detained Thursday morning as he attempted to enter the courtroom carrying a vial of his prescription medication.
Around 10 a.m., Anastasios Manettas, the attorney representing Miles Farley, was detained and taken to the rear of the courtroom during a security check of the lawyer’s luggage, according to several other attorneys who saw the occurrence.
Manettas reportedly tossed his iPhone at a captain of the sheriff’s office, according to Sheriff Patrick Labat.

He is now being accused with simple violence on a police officer, having drugs that were not in their original containers, obstruction, and disturbing court procedures, according to the authorities.
Prior to the motion hearings on Wednesday, security was notably tighter, with a sheriff’s office captain ordering her officers to “search every bag and envelope” outside the courthouse on the first floor. Both prosecutors and defense lawyers were subject to the searches.
Many lawyers protested the increased security measures, informing deputies that during their years of legal practice, they never had their possessions checked.
One officer was observed exercising a police dog in the corridor on Thursday morning. The court’s scheduled opening time was 10 a.m., but things are running late.
