The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting.
KPD officers responded to reports of a shooting victim in the parking lot of Western Heights Baptist Center. When officers arrived on the scene they located a man inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officials said officers performed CPR on the victim until EMS arrived to transport him to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Based on the preliminary investigation, officers said they believe the shooting happened in the area of Shelbourne Road.

The incident is now under active investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit. A suspect is not in custody at this time.
The identity of the victim is being withheld as authorities work to notify the victim’s family.
