We don’t know the cause of death, but it has been confirmed that Elder Cal Murrell aka “Happy Preacher” has died. Atlanta will sorely miss his presence. He was the first black Christian socialite! He was at every major event and his presence could never be hidden. Most dignitaries that hit the city know of the “Happy Preacher”. His spirit was vibrant and reminded us all to give God praise in every situation. Happy Preacher you will be sorely missed in the State Of Georgia! #RIH
How divine that the Happy Preacher will spend MLK Day in heaven? He was a kind, generous, loving, and sanctified spirit, who was the biggest cheerleader that Atlanta has ever known. He will be missed. #thehappypreacher. #eldercalmurrell pic.twitter.com/mt0j65PVvY

My heart is broken… Elder Murrel, known affectionately as "The Happy Preacher" joined the ancestors. From my first day at #WAOK Radio, #TheHappyPreacher was my biggest supporter and encouraged me all the time. Please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers. #RestInPower pic.twitter.com/wH5Zhqcwnu

There were very few big events and seldom a church service where I didn't see "The Happy Preacher" rejoicing and giving praise. Be it a joyous occasion or a funeral, Mr. Cal Murrell always had a shout and a praise on his heart. What a loss for our beloved city. May he rest well. pic.twitter.com/XJdINfrzuh
