A battle of the winglets left two Southwest Airlines planes full of passengers out of commission in Nashville.
“Welcome to Crashville,” passenger Eric Borden tweeted Saturday night from one of the o clipped airliners.
“Got stuck waiting on a plane at BNA due to weather on the way back to Atlanta. We finally pull back and they crash the plane into another plane. Took the S right off,” he added, using the code name for the Nashville International Airport.
Airline officials said no injuries were reported in the mishap.
The winglet of St. Louis-bound Southwest Flight 1555 “came into contact” during pushback with the winglet of Southwest Flight 4580, headed for Atlanta, according to airlines rep Michelle Agnew.
Both planes returned to their gate “under their own power” and were taken out of service for evaluation. The passengers were put on other planes and proceeded to their destinations.
