President Donald Trump said he will ground all Boeing-made 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 airliners after a second one crashed and killed all passengers, this time Sunday in Ethiopia.
All MAX 8 and 9 models in the air right now “will be grounded” today as soon as they land, Trump told reporters.
The president said he has spoken with Boeing executives and they agree with the decision, adding he hopes they will come up with a plan to address the planes’ issues quickly.
The grounding is effective “immediately,” he said.
The jets will be grounded “until further notice” because “The safety of the American people, of all people, is our paramount concern.”
