Earlier this week news broke that Tiffany Haddish’s ex-husband, along with a few others, weren’t too happy about her new memoir, “The Last Black Unicorn.” William Stewart took to his Instagram page clear his name saying he “never once hit, beat or abused her,” even though she details physical altercations (including one that led to a miscarriage) in her book.
Well, Tiffany’s ex has decided to take the matter to court in order to clear his name of any and all abuse allegations, and he secured Russell Simmons’ legal team. According to Michael T. Sterling, Stewarts lawyer, Stewart isn’t looking to sue anyone in particular at this time. His motive is to get to the bottom of who is responsible for, what he refers to as, “these defamatory lies.” As we previously reported, Tiffany admitted that some details in the book weren’t 100 percent true and she blamed it on the editing process.
“We are going where the facts lead us,” Sterling told us. “I want to protect his reputation so he can get back to his regular life and keep his job.”
As far as a restraining order that Tiffany filed against her then-husband back in July 2011, Sterling says that doesn’t prove he was abusive. “If they did a little more work, they would see that two months later he was issued a certificate of exoneration clearing him of those allegations.”
