The congregation at Genoa Baptist Church in Westerville decided the service must go on Sunday morning, despite a call from state officials to not gather in large crowds.

Pastor Frank Carl said he wants the public to know, amid stress, anxiety, and uncertainty right now, there is hope.

“People who have been sheltered in their home for a week or two, they’re ready to get out,” Pastor Carol said. “I think this is a way for people to have hope, to continue and go on. There is great hope in the church and God.”

Just like an old fashioned drive-in movie, Genoa Baptist lets members pull up in the parking lot, turn on their speakers and listen to the sermon and music through the radio.

“We’ve never experienced anything like this before, isn’t this amazing,?” Anne Tilton said. “Our church is amazing to bring all of these people together at a time like this, when we need Jesus and we need each other.”

Song and praise filled the air, social distancing style.

“We are Christians, so we pray wherever,” Dave Conrad said. “The community is really coming together. This was great to be able to have this service.”

Churches across the area are finding creative ways to worship amid concerns of Covid 19. Genoa Baptist plans to continue services using this method, for as long as they need to.

They welcome anyone to come join on Sundays. They will hold their drive-in services at 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 am.
