You can’t help but like Rickey Smiley and Erykah Badu’s connection. Even though it’s not Rickey’s birthday, she honors the “ugly man” by inadvertently posting a photo of him to Instagram.
Rickey’s excessive use of makeup in the photograph and his attire were mentioned by Erykah. In a hurry, he added his comment and roast her! As she is a close friend, I have no doubt that she is aware of Rickey’s love of comedy and his acute need for laughter as he mourns the passing of his son Brandon.
Grieving is a process that is rarely describable or comprehendible. Each grieves differently.
In his response, Rickey mentioned that Erykah had sent him two dozen white roses. He explains how his grief comes in waves and how his emotions have been all over the place.
Several people have voiced their concerns about how forthcoming he is at this time, but he stated on The Tamron Hall Show that he wants to support those who are experiencing loss or who are caring for a kid or family member who are addicted to drugs.
I think Rickey is a role model that many famous people may learn from. The same supporters that made him famous also enjoy walking through the challenging seasons. The family of Brandon is still in our thoughts and prayers.
