A Kansas man has been charged after he was caught transporting illegal fish through a Texas airport.

The Texas Game Warden confirmed the news in a Twitter post Tuesday, sharing photos of the freshwater stingrays and boulengerella fish, which are both on Texas’ invasive species list.

Boulengerella is a slender fish that originates from South America.

“Charges filed and cases pending on a Kansas person having freshwater stingrays and boulengerella (both of which are on Texas’ invasive species list) shipped to DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport),” the post read. “He was going to transport them back to Kansas via vehicle (also illegal to possess in Oklahoma).”

Officials told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth that the fish, which were packaged in bags of water, set between bunches of newspaper in a shipping crate, were found by a United States Fish and Wildlife Service inspector at the airport.

USA TODAY has reached out to the airport for comment.

This isn’t the only airport animal discovery this week. Philippine customs officials arrested a Filipino man after finding 757 tarantulas that he brought from Poland. Officials estimated the value of the unusual shipment at 310,000 pesos ($5,900).
