Looks like J.R. Smith won’t be facing any major consequences for tossing a fan’s phone and breaking it back in July.
According to TMZ, the NBA player appeared before a judge in a Manhattan courtroom Thursday morning with his attorney Alex Spiro and managed to score a sweet plea deal.
Smith has been ordered to buy a $600 cell phone for the fan who tried to take a picture with him but ended up getting cursed out instead along with a damaged phone. In addition to that, the judge ordered Smith to stay out of trouble for 6 months.
His lawyer shared more details about Smith’s plea deal with TMZ. Spiro said,
“He was issued a ticket, paid for the cell phone upgrade, and the case is being dismissed and sealed – this is a non-event.”
