Renowned actress Halle Berry denied any involvement with the Women in Media Conference set to take place in Sandton, next month.

Just over a week ago fellow American actress Taraji P. Henson also denied that she had any knowledge of attending the conference, taking to Twitter to Henson alerted fans that she had no knowledge of the event and she would not be attending, ” False Advertisement! Remove my name and picture, I will not be at this event”, tweeted Henson

Taraji P. Henson and Berry were removed from the line-up on the events official website.

Setting the record straight, the ‘Monster’s Ball’ star took to social media over the weekend to apologise to her fand and thank the Empire star for “letting the people know” about the alleged false claims to the stars being keynote speakers at the WIM conference.

“To clear the air… I will NOT be attending #WimCon2018. I apologize to any of my fans who were misled – I know NOTHING about this, I have never heard of it. It’s shameful that @21stcg_Global would advertise this way. Thank you @TherealTaraji for letting people know.”

This comes after an announcement on Wednesday, August 8, that she would be part of a Women in Media conference happening on September 5 at the Sandton Convention Centre with Bonang Matheba as the MC.

Bonang also distanced herself from the controversy – she immediately released a statement after Henson’s Twitter outburst. She stated that she too would no longer be part of the event.

My official statement: International Women In Media Conference.

The lineup included US singer Ashanti, local actress and producer Connie Ferguson, actor and film-maker Salamina Mosese, actress and brand ambassador Nomzamo Mbatha, actress Amanda du Pont among others.

However, organisers have hit back Henson’s claims that she knew nothing about the conference, adding that the actress not only signed a contract but received a deposit too.
