Online congregation so this took place this weekend (every member wasn’t happy about it) Tyler Perry was the preacher at Lakewood Church. It looks like the Lakewood Church family had mixed reviews about Tyler Perry being allowed to preach all the weekend services. Tyler Perry has inspired, encouraged, and motivated many around the world through his books, films, and many business endeavors.

Facebook Comment:
I think the church leadership needs prayer since they’ve allowed Tyler Perry to speak at church knowing he is living with a woman who isn’t his wife.

My problem with Tyler Perry as a minister 🙏 I want to preface this by quashing the usual hater, judgmental accusations up front and know that I support my church and will be in attendance this weekend. I have no doubt that Mr. Perry is gifted and talented as an actor, writer, producer, director, humanitarian and whatever he does in his business world. My problem lies in what is “known” about his life. He is supposedly living in a lifestyle of fornication with the mother of his child. This opens the door for all kinds of spiritual implications for him and the churches who give him a ministerial platform. Another concern is the shows he currently distributes. I do not watch them but my understanding is that Mr. Perry has total creative control yet they are filled with everything God considers an abomination: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family (Proverbs 6:16‭-‬19 NLT) and every sexual sin listed in the NT.

And I know from personal experience that you cannot separate what you do from who you are. One overflows into the other. This is my caution to the body of Christ. There are many warnings throughout the Word of God that instruct us to be careful of those who say one thing but live contrary to God’s teaching. The Holy Spirit will not allow you to comfortably engage in behavior that grieves God. Read, meditate, and pray about what God expects especially from those who minister His Word.

Ms. Ann yep some members was upset about it but it was great getting to listen to Tyler Perry this morning at Lakewood Church. He shared his story with us and encouraged us to always look to the Lord during our most troubled times. Why: God is and has always been the sacrifice for the troubles that you go thru.

God is continually testing us, not to have us be a sacrifice but to show us that He has already sacrificed His own son for us and that we should cast out all anxiety and fear; for these are the things that hold us back from the true power of the Lord.

    Gen 22:1-14

“Use the gifts of the Lord to climb higher and maintain; climb means to pray-pray to the Lord to help you climb over the hurdles that block your way; maintain means to worship-continue to worship the Lord in all that you do and He will bless you”.

This FB post about him living in sin with a woman.
There are PLENTY leaders married and have side pieces and NOTHING is said.

You get what you signed up for until you decide you no longer want to be on the roll of Lakewood.

For example, anyone that gets into the pulpit of my church usually 100% of the time share the same doctrinal views that my Pastor and Church teach and they never deviate from our belief systems. I can go to my church knowing that whomever is in the pulpit is a direct reflection of my Pastors teaching, and for that I know there will never be a wolf in sheeps clothing delivering the Word at any time.

Whomever Joel Osteen allows to preach in his pulpit is a direct reflection of who Joel Osteen is. Its that simple. He’s not going to put someone up to preach something contrary to what Lakewood believes (or doesnt believe). So with that said, if its Tyler Perry or anyone else, you better believe Joel Osteen co-signs on their public and private lifestyle. There are 5,000 other churches in Houston a person can join when they get fed up with eating from Lakewoods table.

Lakewood, your Pastor is giving you what you signed up for! Its that simple and thats why you go there, because you like exactly what’s been preach (and whats not being preached).

I’m sure it helped someone. Worry about y’all own soul salvation. Pray for him if you see he needs it. Grace and space. That’s what Jesus would do.

The Lord Jesus Christ was not sacrificed for our troubles and to cast out anxiety and fear. He was sacrificed for our SINS.

This reminds me of the time Bishop Jakes allowed Tyler Perry to lay hands on him and pray and prophecy. Tyler Perry gave $1,000,000 to Jake’s youth center building project during that service. Bishop Jakes announced the donation and the praying did not seem spontaneous; it appeared planned. Bishop Jakes went back, but didn’t fall out.

As the Bible says, your gift will make room for you. This can mean your $ and/or your talent. I would not be surprised if Mr. Perry gave a sizable donation to Lakewood Church. Also, Pastor Osteen may have had Mr. Perry speak because he can reach a certain demographic at Lakewood.

Tyler Perry has the gift of imitating preachers in his productions, but I also think he may have a gift from God. There is a video on You Tube of him speaking at Greater Saint Stephens years ago before he achieved fame and fortune and his natural comedic side was coming through in his message. He chose movies and productions, but maybe God chose him for ministry and he hasn’t fully surrendered and said yes. I know y’all don’t want to hear that!

  25. SMH. Unholy And Ungodly And Unrighteous. “The Beautiful Side Of Evil”, Is Deception. If People Cannot Spiritually Discern, That Joel Osteen And Tyler Perry Are Not Of The God Of Abraham, Isaac And Jacob, Then, They Part Of “The Blind Leading The Blind”. “Not Everyone That Names God, Knows God”. People Following Man And Not Following Yeshua. When The Holy Spirit Dwells In You, He “Leads You Into All Truth”. The Truth Of This Matter Is, God Is Not The Source. Shalom

  26. Dorothy Vailes you are so on point…the blind leading the blind – all fall into the same ditch- Deception! We are to know the tree by the fruit it bears and the Word of God says to TEST EVERY SPIRIT to see if it’s of God, but how can we TEST any Spirit if all we know are New Testaments scriptures and not ALL scripture?

Your gifts or talents are not going to get you into the Kingdom – Believing and Trusting in Messiah, Being born from Holy Spirit, and Obedience to Adonai’s Commands are what’s going to get you into the Kingdom- When Messiah said “If you love Me keep my commands.” – There was no New Testaments at that time so what commands was He talking about?

When are we going to wake up and stop being so gullible and STUDY scripture.
