A carjacker dragged a victim before crashing into an Orlando church Wednesday evening, police said.
The incident started in the parking lot of a convenience store at Tampa Avenue and Orange Center Boulevard. The carjacker jumped into the victim’s car and began to drive away, said Orlando police Sgt. Jacqueline Howard.
The victim tried to stop the carjacker by grabbing the passenger door and side mirror, she said.
The victim was dragged before falling off. The carjacker lost control, went through some bushes and crashed into the east side of the Washington Shores Church of Christ, which is about a half-mile away, Howard said. There was minimal damage to the church.
The carjacker fled.
The victim suffered moderate but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
No other details were immediately released.
