Young Money femcee idol Nicki Minaj bared all for her brand-spanking new Elle cover story for the magazine’s July 2018 issue with writer Devin Gordon.

The Queens-bred mega-talent dished on some of the latest and most major controversies surrounding the royal Barbie, including her relationship with former rap boyfriend Meek Mill, how she matches up against fan-ignited competition like Cardi B, and a principle message of her forthcoming Queen album: “it being OK to keep your legs closed.”

According to the story, Nicki emphasizes the message with the absence of any slut-shaming, which she follows up with, “I don’t really know how to say that without being offensive.” She considers that maybe she was “naive,” but it came as a surprise for her to learn “how many girls were modern-day prostitutes,” Nicki said.

“Whether you’re a stripper, or whether you’re an Instagram girl—these girls are so beautiful and they have so much to offer,” she said. “But, I started finding out that you give them a couple thousand dollars, and you can have sex with them.”

It’s a “Yikes” moment for her, she continued, especially as she realized the role she may have played in such objectification.

“And it makes me sad that maybe I’ve contributed to that in some way,” she said. The “Chun-Li” raptress noted that her revelation made her question her own symbolism considering that she’s selling sex appeal, emphasizing that by no means does she turn her nose up at these girls. Gordon clarifies that sex and sex appeal are different, though, but she acknowledges that this might not be understood in the grander scheme by girls who look up to her.

“But I just don’t know if girls who look up to me think that when I’m posting a sexy picture,” Nicki said. “I’m actually the antithesis of all of that. I’m more of, like, the snobby girl, like the ‘Uh, what’ type of girl. And I want girls to be like that. I’d rather you be called snobby or a bitch or conceited—I’d rather you be called that than easy, and a ho, and a slut.”

Issa sermon, Nicki.
