Simon Cowell may be smiling more these days and that’s because he’s not concerned with text messages, emails and phone calls.
The former “American Idol” judge, 58, has purposefully gone without a cell phone for months.
“I literally have not been on my phone for 10 months,” Cowell told The Daily Mail.
While being without the device might cause chaos for some, it’s brought Cowell a certain level of peace.
“The difference it made was that I became more aware of the people around me and way more focused,” he said. “The thing I get irritated with is when you have a meeting everyone’s on their phone – and I was probably in that place too. You can’t concentrate.”
But the change hasn’t just helped his concentration. “It has been good for my mental health,” he said. “It’s a very strange experience but it really is good for you and it has absolutely made me happier.”
In October 2017, Cowell suffered a nasty fall down the stairs of his London home.
The accident, in which he thought he broke his neck, forced him to make other additional changes to his life — like cutting back on booze and cigarettes.
