The sentencing for Nicki Minaj‘s brother was put off for another month Tuesday, following his lawyer’s petition to have the Long Island man’s conviction for child rape tossed.
Jelani Maraj faces up to life behind bars for the repeated rape of his stepdaughter, starting when she was just 11 years old, in their Baldwin home while he was married to her mother.
The 39-year-old wasn’t in court Tuesday.
Nassau County Supreme Court Judge Robert McDonald has yet to rule on attorney David Schwartz’s motion to vacate the guilty verdict against his client.
A jury found Maraj guilty of charges predatory sexual assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child for repeatedly raping the girl.
The now-13-year-old took the stand during the trial, saying the “Anaconda” singer’s brother threatened to have her taken away from her mother if she go along with the abuse.
Schwartz claimed during the trial that the allegations – which include Maraj coaching the girl on how to make anal sex less painful while he raped her – were made up by her mother as part of a $25 million extortion scheme
Schwartz did not immediately return a message.
