CLEVELAND, Ohio – Sunday, ‘Team LeBron’ defeated ‘Team Stephen’ in the NBA All Star Game. The victory came after ‘Team Laura Ingraham’ lost to a ‘Team LeBron’ dribbling the First Amendment.

Team Ingraham, coached by President Trump, gave Team LeBron bulletin board material when Ingraham said Lebron should “Shut up and dribble” instead of commenting critically on Trump, because no one elected James.

“Must they run their mouths like that,” said Ingraham, after hearing James interviewed on Uniterrupted, his multimedia outlet for athletes. “Unfortunately, a lot of kids and some adults take these ignorant comments seriously. Look, there might be a cautionary lesson in LeBron for Kids: This is what happens when you attempt to leave high school a year early to join the NBA. And it’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball. Oh and LeBron and Kevin? You’re great players but no one voted for you. Millions elected Trump to be their coach. So keep the political commentary to yourself, or as someone once said, shut up and dribble.”

The Fox News host’s comments displayed her own ignorance of the First Amendment, the work of The LeBron James Family Foundation, LeBron’s business acumen and her ability to sound the racist dog-whistle.

At Akron St. Vincent, St Mary High School, James would have been taught that the First Amendment protects free speech for all, not just elected politicians and a Fox News talking head desperate for ratings and to promote a book.

“No one voted for you,” Ingraham lectured James. No one elected Laura Ingraham either, that hasn’t stopped her from dribbling pro-Trump drivel out of her mouth every night. If being elected was a requirement to speak freely about elected officials, Ingraham would be out of job, and we’d be out of a democracy.

Given his race and background, LeBron James speaks with more authority on Trump’s impact on the African-American and struggling inner-city communities, than does the white host on the Trump cable news network whose audience is predominately white.

In the interview, James was asked what the current social and political climate was like for someone in his position.

“The climate is hot. The number-one job in America, the appointed person is someone who doesn’t understand the people. And really don’t give a (expletive) about the people. When I was growing up, there was like three jobs that you looked for inspiration…It was the president of the United States, it was whoever was best in sports and it was the greatest musician at the time. You never thought you could be them, but you can grab inspiration from them.”

Plenty of kids in Akron and around the world have been grabbing positive inspiration from LeBron James. Not just LeBron James the basketball player, LeBron James the philanthropist, LeBron James the businessman, LeBron James the upstanding citizen of the community.

With his LeBron James Family Foundation, the man Ingraham denigrated as “ignorant” is sponsoring a program putting underprivileged through the University of Akron. How many underprivileged kids is Laura Ingraham currently putting through college?

Ingraham claims comment not racist

“Almost all the stories accused me of ‘dog-whistle’ commentary and many claimed that my line that LeBron should ‘shut up and dribble’ as racist. Uh what?” Ingraham said, responding to the backlash.

It wasn’t the “Shut up…” comment that people thought sounded racist. It was the line “Must they run their mouths like that?” combined with “ignorant comments.” It sounded to me like a southern plantation owner talking about her slaves or a Jim Crow era sheet wearer talking about “uppity darkies.”
In the interview LeBron James talked about how he’s not too far removed from racism, despite his position and wealth, citing the incident in 2017 when the gates of his L.A. home was spray-painted with racist slurs.

LeBron James was named the MVP of the All Star Game. More significantly, he continues to be an MVP for the kids he helps and inspires by speaking up instead of shutting up.
