Who says reality TV can’t inspire positive change?
Kim Kardashian’s televised visit to Los Angeles’ Alexandria House, a shelter that houses homeless women and children in the area, got one ex-NFL star to write a big check.
According to TMZ, Branden Albert donated a whopping $ 1 million to the cause after seeing it on an episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
The athlete tells the site he decided to give because the shelter’s goals reminded him of his own upbringing, his mother and aunt working hard to make ends meet.
His donation was made in honor of his late mother, who passed away five years ago from pancreatic cancer, adds the site.
Alexandria House aims to be a transitional house and neighborhood center for those in need. Some 92% of the women who’ve left the program go on to secure stable housing of their own.
The nonprofit organization adds they will use the former Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins player’s donation to help upwards of 600 more people each month.
A request for comment from Kardashian’s rep wasn’t immediately returned.
