Eat your heart out, guys: Mama June is off the market.
The “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” matriarch, born June Shannon, revealed that there’s a new man in her life — but she’s playing coy on the lucky gent’s identity until the second season premiere of “Mama June: From Not to Hot” on Jan. 12.
“He’s my rock and my best friend,” Shannon, 38, told People in an interview released Tuesday. “We’re together 24 hours a day. I mean it’s kind of weird that we don’t really have to do anything. We can just chill at the house, or chill with the kids, or just go to the store. I’ve never been able to enjoy somebody as much as I have him.”
She said her beau “had no idea who I was” when they met, but that his kids did. “And that’s what I like about it. We grew up in the same town but didn’t know one another. He doesn’t care about me being famous, or anything about it. He’s having fun with it,” she said.
After many failed romances and poor pickup attempts, including several documented on her reality series, the newly svelte Shannon said that daughters Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson raised their eyebrows at her new relationship.
“It’s just been me and the girls for so long, and we’ve been though a lot,” Shannon said. “It’s hard to be able to trust somebody, and it was a lot of walls that he had to break down with me and the girls, honestly.”
It’s no surprise that it’s taken Mama June this long to feel comfortable in a new relationship: Last year, the self-proclaimed Coupon Queen revealed to Page Six that her ex Sugar Bear was abusive to her and their children. Sugar Bear denied the allegations, but did admit to cheating on Shannon with both women and men.
After her split from Sugar Bear, she was linked toregistered sex offender Mark McDaniel, who was jailed for allegedly molesting Mama June’s daughter, Anna Marie “Chickadee” Cardwell, leading to the cancellation of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” in 2014.
The father of Mama June’s two middle daughters is convicted sex offender Michael Anthony Ford, who served two years in prison for sexual exploitation of a minor after being busted on an episode of NBC’s “To Catch a Predator” in 2005.
Despite her past, Mama June believes that this time she found a keeper, insisting, “He restored our faith when we thought there were no good men left out there.”
