According to a new poll, the phrase “fake news” — one often used by President Trump — is the second-most annoying phrase used in casual conversation this year. The Marist Poll revealed that 23% of Americans were not very fond of the term made popular by Mr. Trump. The phrase came second to “whatever,” which took the top spot with 33% for the ninth year in a row. The poll also found people were more likely to find the phrase annoying they identified as Democrats (29%) or independents (26%) than as Republicans (12%).
