Also a college football broadcaster for ESPN, Mowins called Oakland Raiders’ exhibition games the past two seasons.
The first woman to call play-by-play for a televised NFL game was Gayle Sierens on Dec. 27, 1987. Sierens earned good feedback for her call of the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs game and was offered to call more NFL games. However, she was limited to the one by her full-time job as a broadcaster at a local NBC station, according to Sports Illustrated.
