Bill and Hillary Clinton were guests at a special friends-and-family screening of Danny Strong’s J.D. Salinger film, “Rebel in the Rye.”
Director Strong’s previously been the screenwriter behind acclaimed inside-the-Beltway dramas such as “Game Change,” “Recount” and “Lee Daniels’ The Butler.”
His new literary film follows the early days of reclusive writer Salinger, and “Bill revealed that he’s a huge fan of the ‘Catcher in the Rye’ author,” said a guest at the Crosby Street Hotel screening, where guests also included Hillary aide Huma Abedin and “Milk” screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
The film opens Sept. 15.
