For many years, the black church has been the bedrock for stellar music of all genres. From Gospel, Pop, Soul, Jazz, Blues, Country to Hip-Hop, music has been tremendously influenced by the singers, writers, producers and musicians birthed by African-American churches.
Although many people of faith believe that music and musicians should only play Gospel music within its “own” walls, myriads outside of the church have the highest regard for the talent that emanates from faith communities.
Recently, Grammy-Award winning musician Cory Henry rocked the North Sea Jazz Festival accompanied by the Metropole Orchestra. Cory is a native New Yorker and is a music prodigy. CONGRATS CORY!!
