As a result, a number of historic graves were “disturbed and exposed” on Saturday after huge downpours in the Fife area.

Fife Council decided to move the remains into the church after being called out to the recover the bones that spilled onto the nearby road.

“In order to preserve the dignity of the deceased, where safe, the remains have been moved into the church.

“Any exposed ancient lairs are covered until it is safe to restore or rebury them.”
