Hester Burkhalter, 69, plans to sue Disney World and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office after she was arrested at a Disney World security checkpoint in April when guards found CBD oil in her purse.

The great-grandmother, who used CBD oil to treat her arthritis, has hired attorneys Michele Rayner and Benjamin Crump — the lawyer who represented Trayvon Martin’s family.

“Horrific treatment that they placed upon this churchgoing law-abiding grandmother,” Crump said at a press conference.

“Disney, you have to do better if you’re going to continue to expect people to support you and bring their families to the theme park,” Crump said.

Burkhalter expects to sue both the Disney Corporation and the sheriff’s office for “illegal detention, false arrest and a violation of civil rights,” WESH 2 reported.

CBD oil, which is derived from marijuana plants, is illegal in Florida without a prescription – even though it is sold on store shelves. It typically has very low or nonexistent levels of THC – the psychoactive cannabinoid in marijuana.

Deputies said Burkhalter’s CBD oil tested positive for THC but Burkhalter’s felony charge of possession of hashish was later dropped, according to FOX 35.

Burkholder had planned the trip with her family for two years, she told FOX 35 earlier this month.
