Smith was on TV One’s “Uncensored” and described her early life in Camden, NJ, where she was born as one of a pair of twins to a 15-year-old single mom.
She said, “As beautiful as Camden was, it was a place where I dealt with sexual, physical abuse, a place where I did all kinds of drugs. I was doing cocaine at the age of 14. I really could have been a crackhead today.”
But “It was also a place that gave me a lot of resilience, perseverance and hustle.”
She moved to LA at 18, landed roles in Tyler Perry projects, and is now also directing and running TSAW, an actors workshop.
She added, “We all have situations to overcome, but you don’t quit. You keep trying.”
