Dr. Jamal Bryant And New Birth Church are embarking upon a major milestone – 1 million people served during the pandemic!
Many roads in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and beyond led to New Birth Church this past weekend! New Birth Church pastored by Dr. Jamal Bryant reopened its doors for in-person worship on Good Friday with a globally-renowned Faith Leader Bishop T.D. Jakes and a musical genius Pastor John P. Kee!
Saturday, cars lined up for miles for New Birth’s Gas Card Giveaway! This massive event was held at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and attendees received a bag of food along with the $50 gas card! As we all know, gas prices are a real thing right now so when the church announced its “Gas on God” initiative the people were lined up for blocks! It was a first-come, first-served basis and the people responded! Over 500 were recipients of the churches hand up!
The “Gas on God” effort was a partnership with DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran Johnson and Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory.
“We are beyond thrilled to return to in-person worship services, to re-engage with our congregation and to welcome visitors who are thirsty for an extraordinary encounter with the Lord,” said Dr. Bryant.
Throughout the pandemic, New Birth has been a central force in Dekalb County using smart, advanced and innovative ways to engage members, enhance its online ministry as well as reach those whom had made a decision it was done with, “church” as it was!
New Birth has been known throughout Georgia since it’s conception under the Leadership of Bishop Eddie Long for giving in the community! Now, under the leadership of Dr. Jamal Bryant The King’s Table, New Birth’s food pantry, was launched just two months before the pandemic and was designed to serve 300 people per month. With the financial impacts that accompanied the global crisis, The King’s Table saw those numbers skyrocket to more than 3,000 people weekly at the height of the pandemic and is quickly approaching a major milestone – 1 million people served during the pandemic!
More than often, bad news especially concerning churches makes the headlines, but this is definitely worthy of spotlight! Per the looks of the crowd and excitement this past weekend it appears their efforts, dedication and handwork has the city ready for a “New Birth”.
“Shifting to an online worship experience really forced us to recalibrate our approach to ministry and rethink our outreach methodology. Honestly, the challenge now is getting people out of their pj’s and eating their pancakes while streaming service on Sunday morning,” said Bryant.
After two years of closed church doors it appears Dr. Bryant is changing the approach of church for his congregation and those that would like to visit and/or join.
No need to worry about fancy clothes or shoes this or any Sunday,” said Bryant. “Just plan to be amazed by God’s presence as we return into the house of the Lord.”
Many churches have reopened, but few have seen this type of turnout! Even after two years, many churches didn’t master the concept of becoming a digitally visual ministry in a digital era. The doors are reopening, yet a church without a online church is limiting their growth! New Birth has 98,000+ views on their youtube video from Good Friday and 35,000+ on their Resurrection Sunday Service! All churches are one church in two locations now. Congratulations to New Birth on a HUGE church re-opening!
