An Indiana man who’s been arrested seven times in six months was picked up twice in three days last week. Cops are sick of it.

“He is just a menace to Johnson County citizens,” Sheriff Duane Burgess said of 35-year-old Steven Wagers. “It’s been an occurrence where I’m walking in the jail and he’s being released and I’m like ‘Stay out of jail, Steven.’ And he’s returning that next day.”

Wagers has been pinched 30 times over the past 17 years according to CBS news. Most of those arrests were reportedly for theft and drug charges.

According to the county sheriff, Wagers was convicted of nearly 20 car break-ins and sentenced to a 54-month sentence, but spent less than a year in jail. Last week, Wagers was picked up Friday for stealing a car and was in possession of drugs when he was arrested.

After spending the weekend in jail, Wagers was busted for meth possession Monday when police were called by locals who spotted a suspicious man in a yard that wasn’t his. He led cops on a brief chase, then settled down in a lawn chair and waited to be hauled off again. This time, Burgess went to the courts and successfully asked a judge to hold Wagers without bond.

“You wish a person to be productive and he just can’t be,” Burgess said. Wagers was still in jail Thursday morning.
