Pastor Siva Moodley was laid to rest 579 days after his death. Photos from the burial, which was held with the help of Destiny Church, were widely shared on social media this week.
After his death on August 15, 2021, Moodley’s body has been stored in a Johannesburg morgue.
Moodley, the 53-year-old founder of The Miracle Centre on Johannesburg’s northwestern outskirts, died after growing severely ill.

His relatives and church members used to come to the funeral home to pray for his resurrection. At the time, funeral home manager Martin du Toit applied to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court for permission to bury or cremate Moodley.
After Moodley’s death, church services have continued as usual, led by his wife, Jessie, son, David, and daughter, Kathryn Jade.
The services are also broadcast live on social media. According to reports, the church has not publicly acknowledged his death on social media or informed the congregation of his location.

His social media sites, particularly Facebook and Twitter, are active, and messages are uploaded on a daily basis as if they are from him.
Miracle Centre employees declined to communicate with the media. They claimed to have a policy prohibiting them from doing so.
