Fans of the football teams at Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta University won’t have to travel far for a few of the squad’s games this season.
In fact, they won’t have to leave their living rooms.
The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced last week a multi-year agreement to livestream a handful of regular season games, and the SIAC championship game, on ESPN3 – also known as WatchESPN, the worldwide leader’s streaming service.
“ESPN’s multiple platforms provide national exposure for a broad array of live sports, and we are happy to add these SIAC games and their exciting brand of football to our offering,” John Skipper, ESPN’s president, said in a statement. “Through our collaboration with SIAC, we are thrilled to serve fans by showcasing the events they want to watch.”
Fans of the Clark Panthers – who are 3-3 this season – will get a chance to see them twice. ESPN3 will stream the Panthers’ contests against Albany State, on Oct. 21 at 2 p.m., and their game versus Miles College on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
Clark quarterback Johnathon McCrary leads the SIAC in passing thus far this season, throwing for 1,499 yards and 12 touchdowns through six games. The Panthers have the SIAC’s top offense this season, averaging 29.7 points per-game.
Morehouse fans can watch the Tigers via ESPN3 this Saturday at 2 p.m. when they take on Albany State.
The Tigers have the SIAC’s top defense, allowing opponents to gain just 258 yards per-game. Junior linebacker Antonio Johnson leads the SIAC in sacks this season with 6½. Fellow linebacker David Smith has 51 tackles on the season, which is fourth in the SIAC.
On the broadcast for SIAC games on ESPN3 will be James Verrett and Tyrone Poole, a two-time Super Bowl winner and graduate of Fort Valley State University.
