A week earlier, he attended the Sept. 26 Prayer March on the National Mall with Vice President Mike Pence and evangelist Franklin Graham. Laurie also was on hand for the White House Rose Garden ceremony for the nomination of Barrett.

Besides President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, a host of other White House and congressional officials who attended White House events for Barrett also have tested positive for the coronavirus. They include Utah Sen. Mike Lee, Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and press secretary Kayleigh McEneny.

Laurie’s positive diagnosis was first reported by New York Magazine.

Coverage of the events show many of the attendees, including Laurie, were unmasked, shook hands and did not follow social distancing guidelines.

“It started with some fatigue I was feeling … I’ve been doing OK actually. I’m basically in quarantine … we cannot politicize something like this,” he announced via Facebook. “If the president of the United States can get it, obviously anybody can get it.”Ads by Teads

Laurie, a resident of Newport Beach, is senior pastor of a number of large-scale evangelical churches in California — the Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside; Harvest Corona in Corona; Harvest Woodcrest in Riverside; Harvest Orange County in Irvine; and Harvest at Kumulani in Kapalua, Hawaii.

In 2017, President Trump selected Laurie to be one of several evangelical church leaders to lead the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral following the Presidential inauguration. Earlier this year, Trump announced via Twitter that he intended to watch the megachurch’s Palm Sunday services headlined by Laurie online.
